Also known as noradrenaline norepinephrine functions as a hormone and a neurotransmitter its function is to get the body and brain working. Norepinephrine is involved with the ‘flight or fight’ response. In the brain it promotes alertness, memory formation and retrieval, focus and attention. Not to be confusedf with epinephrine, the similar hormone used in epipens.
